Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: June 26, 2025

Welcome to the Core Reports preprint platform. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of all Core Reports websites, submission systems, content, and services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, the Privacy Policy (linked separately), and the  Copyright Notice (linked separately). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not access or use the Platform.

1. User Registration and Accounts

1.1. Account Creation: To submit manuscripts or access certain features of the Platform, you may be required to register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

1.2. Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify Core Reports immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. Core Reports cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this security obligation.

1.3. Eligibility: By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained the consent of your parent or legal guardian to use the Platform, and your parent or guardian agrees to be bound by these Terms.

2. Content Submission (for Authors)

This section incorporates and expands upon the principles outlined in the Core Reports Copyright Notice.

2.1. Author Copyright Retention: As stated in our Copyright Notice, authors retain the copyright to their submitted work when publishing open access with Core Reports.

2.2. License Grant to Core Reports: By submitting your manuscript, you grant Core Reports a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and archive your manuscript on our Platform in perpetuity. This license enables Core Reports to make your work publicly available and facilitate its widespread dissemination within the scientific community.

2.3. Public Licensing via Creative Commons: All content posted on the Core Reports Platform is made publicly available under a Creative Commons license selected by the author during submission (e.g., CC BY 4.0 International as the default, or other selectable licenses like CC BY-NC, CC BY-ND). The chosen license governs public reuse. You acknowledge that the Creative Commons license selected for a version of your preprint is irrevocable once applied.

2.4. Author Responsibilities and Warranties: By submitting your manuscript, you warrant and represent that: * The submitted work is original and has not been previously published in its current form in a peer-reviewed journal. * You are the sole author(s) or have obtained the necessary permissions from all co-authors to enter into this agreement and have ensured their consent to the submission and licensing terms. * The work does not infringe upon any copyright, patent, trademark, privacy, or other intellectual property rights of any third party. * You have obtained all necessary permissions for any third-party copyrighted material included in your manuscript (e.g., figures, tables, extensive text) and that these permissions are compatible with the selected Creative Commons license. * The research described in the manuscript has been conducted in accordance with all relevant ethical guidelines and regulations (e.g., human subjects, animal welfare, clinical trial registration). You agree to disclose all relevant ethical approvals and participant consents. * Any use of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools or Large Language Models (LLMs) in the creation of the manuscript has been transparently disclosed in the methods section. You acknowledge that AI tools or LLMs do not qualify as authors. * The content does not contain any libelous, defamatory, or unlawful material.

2.5. Permanence and Withdrawal: Preprints posted on Core Reports are considered part of the permanent scholarly record and are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), making them citable. While authors can submit revised versions (which retain the same DOI), the original version will also remain accessible. Requests for complete withdrawal of a preprint (i.e., removal of the content) are granted only in rare, exceptional circumstances (e.g., fundamental errors, ethical concerns confirmed by an institutional investigation). In most cases of withdrawal, the preprint will be marked as 'Withdrawn' with an explanation, and its metadata and a record of its existence will remain as part of the permanent scholarly record.

2.6. Text and Data Mining: By posting on Core Reports, authors explicitly consent to text and data mining of their work by search engines, researchers, and other parties, consistent with the terms of the selected Creative Commons license.

3. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
